How do I make reservations?

You can book online, communicate with me through email and organize your vacation directly from your computer! Use the Booking page or telephone me to make a reservation request. Please request the specific calendar days, number of guests and any preferences. I’ll get back to you promptly with a welcome letter and an invoice. Once the invoice is paid you will receive a confirmation number to guarantee your booking.

Casa Kootenay is my home.We are not like a commercial hotel and do not have a “front desk” or a staff of employees on call 24/7. There will be times when we are out enjoying our beach paradise or the town with our guests. We have created this website to answer your questions, create a booking, and organize logistics.

What other activities are available?

I have had the opportunity to interact with many adventure operations. I am a tour guide, dive instructor and canoe instuctor. I can help you connect with some activity operators and help research your options to make your stay relaxed and stress free. Just ask – I enjoy it!!!

Is the kitchen available for my usage?

There is an outside kitchen available for your usage. Using the inside kitchen is not allowed.

Does anything change during hurricane season?

We are open during hurricane season and do our very best to make everyone comfortable in an event of a hurricane. We have a generator onsite to run water and power. We remove the rooftop terrace shade and outside bed during the season. The jacuzzi heater is turned off as most find it very comfortable as a lounge pool during summer temperatures.

What are your rates?

Our rates are per room per night, based on double occupancy. Third and fourth occupants are an additional charge per person. See rooms and rates for more information. Rates include usage of water sports equipment for those staying at Casa Kootenay.

If you have a visiting guest that wishes to enjoy the premises with you, they can do so with a daypass for a charge of $20USD per person/per day. The daypass is good from 9am-5pm and gives them access to watersports. the pool, outside kitchen and the garden. It does not include breakfast or an overnight stay. They cannot be onsite without you.

To obtain watersports equipment there must be a valid credit card for any damage or theft. Casa Kootenay offers beachfront watersports rentals and offers the area as a meeting or event location. Please contact Hostess Leeanne for pricing.

Do your rates include taxes?

We must charge and collect the following taxes:

  • IVA 16%
  • Hospitality tax 3%
  • Processing fees, service fees, credit card fees and currency conversion fees 3%

These items are all included in the standard room rates. These are now required of all businesses and hotels in Mexico.

Is there a charge for water sports equipment?

There are kayaks, windsurfing, paddle boarding available for your usage. Water sports are free to guests staying at Casa Kootenay. It’s included in the room rate. A valid credit card is needed to obtain usage in case there is theft or damage. Day guests not staying at Casa Kootenay who have paid for a daypass may also use the water sports equipment.

Water sports usage is only available upon supervision by hostess and there being a rescue boat available. Hostess Leeanne loves the water therefore she makes every effort to have them available.

Where is Casa Kootenay located?

Casa Kootenay is located on the beach south of the La Paz town center and malecon. It is a short walk or taxi ride to anywhere along the malecon. See our Contact page for a map and directions to our location.

When I can check in?

Check in is between 2:00pm and 4:00pm. Please have a check in time presented on your reservation booking so the Hostess can be available. We offer to pick you up from the La Paz airport if that was pre arranged. We will welcome you to Casa Kootenay upon arrival. If you arrive late please ring the doorbell or contact Leeanne at 612 154 8802 or 612 122 0006..

Can you pick us up from the airport?

We can arrange airport transfers from the La Paz airport or Cabo San Lucas. Please arrange and schedule this ahead of your arrival. Contact Hostess Leeanne through email or phone.

When is checkout?

Check-out time is 1200pm. Just leave your key in the room and bon voyage! We regret that we cannot accommodate late checkouts as we need the time to prepare for the next arriving guests. Late room check-outs will incur a charge of $50 after 1:00pm. and $50 per hour thereafter. If you used the watersports package and have an open credit card, please arrange to have the bill settled prior to your check out time.

How do I cancel a reservation?

When you book a room at the Casa Kootenay, we block, reserve and hold that room specifically for you. Because we’re a small B & B in a resort community where guests book well in advance, it is difficult for us to re-book rooms without adequate notice. Please note that you must obtain a cancellation number. If you have not received a cancellation number, you have not canceled.

Cancellations vary depending on the booking agent. If you book directly through Casa Kootenay, we have a very conservative booking policy:

21 days prior to reservation date you will get a 100% refund. 21-14 days prior to reservation date you will get a 50% refund. Within 14 days of your reservation, or if you shorten your stay or checkout early, please understand that we must ask you to take responsibility for your entire reservation. Refunds do not include the 19% taxes and fees.

No credits will be issued. If you arrive and are unsatisfied with the accommodations, I will do my best to help you find a suitable replacement, but no refund will be issued.

What is the best way to contact you?

We always respond to every email. If you email us and do not receive a reply within 8 hours, we have not seen your email – please telephone! Important topics like changes to your reservation and/or cancellation are best handled by telephone. You can find my phone numbers on the Contact page.

Do you have air conditioning?

Yes, we have air conditioning! Casa Kootenay also has a great architectural design to support the ocean breeze. Please turn off your Air
Conditioner when you are not in your room or when you are leaving the door open. Housekeeping will turn off the air conditioner when you are not on the premises.

Can you accomodate special diets and breakfast orders?

At 8:00am coffee and fruit are available. Our home-made breakfast is served daily at 8:30am. It begins with coffee, juices, fruit, yogurt and cereal. During the winter months we also serve home-made hot breakfasts which may include several of the following: fresh homemade muffins or loafs, toast with spreads, yogurt, cereals, French toast, waffles, eggs, italian sausage, chorizo, bacon, huevo ranchero, chilequiles and more. During the summer, we server only a great continental breakfast. Drink options include coffee, tea, juice, milk or water.

We hope that meets your expectation! We regret that because we’re a small establishment, we cannot accommodate special orders for breakfast.

If you have special dietary needs or allergies, please advise us ahead of time and we will make all efforts to address them.

Can I bring my own alcoholic beverages?

Guest are allowed to bring their own alcohol on the premises. We’re a relaxed vacation location. However any rowdy, violent or disrespectful behaviour will not be permitted. Such actions may result in removal from the premises, with the assistance of the police if needed, and without refund.

Do you have smoking rooms?

Casa Kootenay is a non smoking environment which includes the rooms, main house and deck. However, there is ample place to smoke in the garden and on the beach.

Can I use the beach and watersports equipment if I’m not staying at Casa Kootenay?

If you are a guest of a guest that is staying at Casa Kootenay, you may use watersports with the purchase of a daypass for $20USD per person/per day. The daypass is good from 9am-5pm and gives you access to watersports. the pool, outside kitchen and the garden. It does not include breakfast or an overnight stay.

The watersports are available from the beach. You may use the outside shower, bathroom facilities, pool, outside kitchen and coolers. The entire facility can also be rented for a special event or meeting. Please contact Hostess Leeanne if you are interested.

Can I bring friends in as day guests?

We welcome you as guests in our home and want you to feel comfortable and relaxed. Where can we park our vehicle?

We have off-street parking outside of the compound. If you wish to keep your vehicle inside, please make arrangements on your booking form. Street parking is for easy access and daily usage. Compound parking is reserved for vehicles that are not in use daily.

Tell me about housekeeping and laundry?

Your room will be freshened between 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. You may use the laundry services for a small supplement. If your stay is longer than four days, you receive one free laundry service.

When are pool and hot tub available?

The pool and hot tub are available for your use any time. Please shower prior to entry to limit the sand and creams that enter the pool. Please use at your own discretion and inform the Hostess if there are any problems. The pool and hot tub are cleaned weekly. We attempt to keep the hot tub temperature between 97 and 100F.

Can I just drop by?

Casa Kootenay is not a commercial establishment. It is my home and a fabulous place that I offer to you. You are welcome to drop by. However, if you come announced I may not always be there. Please do call for last minute reservations.
