What a gem of a place Leeanne has created. She is a wealth of information on what to do, where to eat, places to go..you name it. She arrange a whale shark snorkel tour with a company very conscientious about not harassing the sea life; arranged a dive trip for the day; took us to an amazing beach for the afternoon; sent us on all sorts of discoveries – both in La Paz and out in the desert; and cooks an awesome breakfast. Casa Kootenay was the prefect place to start and end your day. If you’re looking for a party vacation of boozing it up on the beach, stay in Cabo…La Paz is a place you come to enjoy a more traditional Mexico while still having the conveniences of a city. I look forward to a future visit!

My mom and I decided to get away and do something different for Christmas. We liked the idea of a short flight to Cabo from Seattle and we chose La Paz because we wanted to experience something uniuqe. We knew we had made a good choice when Leeann from Casa Kootenay promptly returned our emails answering all our questions. From the start, her guidance helping us create an enjoyable trip went beyond our expectations.
Our room was spacious, clean, and comfortable and we loved the unique layout of Casa Kootenay. Leeann’s welcoming attitude though out our stay made us very comfortable and we easily relaxed into vacation mode. Mom was content on the rooftop deck watching birds and boats, sipping a Michelada. I walked the beach, practiced Spanish with the locals, read and napped. The highlight of our stay was kayaking and paddle boarding across the bay into the mangroves on Christmas day with Leeann, who continued to connect us to many other local activities suited to our interests.

If your looking for a great place to stay, this is it! Leeanne is very knowledgeable about the La Paz area. She told us what excursions were best. She told us what restaurants to eat at, what bars to drink at, everything! She has a place up on the roof where you can sit around and look at the bay and downtown. She even invited us to a wine and cheese party she was having for her neighbors. We met some really cool people, like Steve who lives every winter on his catamaran home in the bay. She gets up early and cooks breakfast and homemade breads and stuff. I told her she was crazy, but she said she loves it! We went on a boat trip she recommended, swimming with Sea Lions. She said it might be a little cold after we got out of the water coming back in the wind, so she gave us a big thick parka to take and it was Awesome!! Couldn’t speak more highly of the place. Price is great also!

I, along with my wife, spent 7 nights with Leeanne at Casa Kootenay during the last week of October. Leeanne’s home is a great place to stay and Leeanne is a wonderful hostess. Leeanne is very engaged in the community and has plenty of contacts; she will be able to assist if you are searching for an activity for the day or need a dinner recommendation.

We stayed in the Mt. Thompson room. The rooms were spacious and clean, plenty of shelf space (especially in the bathroom), several of outlets. The AC works very well. Both ceiling fans and AC were quiet. WiFi signal worked very well (in room and other locations on the property). Mini fridge also in the room.

We went diving most of the days during our stay, but the time we did spend around the home was very relaxing. The rooftop patio over the main house has a great view; with ocean breeze, comfy outdoor furniture, and with shade. Pool and hot tub were welcoming after a day of diving. Ayla, Leeanne’s dog, is very sweet, friendly; and just adds to the “homey” feel of Casa Kootenay. Casa Kootenay does feel like a home away from home.

Paddle boards, wind boards, and kayaks are available and in great shape. We spent one morning on the paddle boards (our first experience with one). Casa Kootenay is a great location for these water sports. The bay or channel is calm; almost like being on a lake.

The location – Casa Kootenay is on a residential street and is very quiet. Walking to the Malecon is doable but it is at least 30 minutes if you walk at a fast pace. There are several restaurants within a 10 to 15 minute walk. A nice size supermarket/grocery store is about a 10 minute walk if you want to prepare some lunches/dinners. We opted to not rent a car. In hindsight I may have looked into renting one, however I never felt inconvenienced. Ecobaja Tours provided a shuttle to and from Cabo San Lucas (these were on time, clean mini buses), the dive shop provided transportation, and taxi rides to and from the Malecon were anywhere from $50 to $100 pesos one way. A local phone is available to make calls for a taxi.

The breakfasts that Leeanne prepares are delicious and plentiful. Every morning in addition to the main course there would be fresh fruit, yogurt, some type of baked good, and cereal. I think we had something different every day; and again the food was great.

Whether you are spending a week or a weekend in La Paz; I can’t imagine that there is a better place to stay.

We had an amazing time in La Paz and are so thankful we stayed at Casa Kootenay! The location was absolutely beautiful and it truly felt like a home away from home. It was relaxing, secure, clean and comfortable. Leeane was an amazing host and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. I would highly recommend it!!

We spent a week at Casa Kootenay with Leeanne in April 2016 and would return again next week if we could! We had already spent a week in LaPaz at a time share hotel before we arrived at Casa Kootenay so we did know something about the area. But our week with Leeanne was the highlight. Not only was the food great, we had a pool with a hot tub, a great view out over the beach and Magote from the roof of the building, and could walk into town and the Malecon if we had the energy. Otherwise, it was a short drive. It was quiet and restful and after a week of wandering around, that was great. Leeanne’s fluency in Spanish was a great help in arranging for places for us to go and things to do; she knew the out-of-the-way places that we would otherwise have missed. Overall it was a great experience and we’d recommend it to anyone.

We had a great stay at Casa Kootenay and Leeanne was an amazing hostess. The rooms were clean and very comfortable (my girlfriend loved the bed and had the best sleep in months). Leeanne had lots of great ideas about what to do in the area and recommended a great restaurant we all loved. She also made a great breakfast and was very flexible with our plans on when we needed to eat. I highly recommend Casa Kootenay and will visit again on my next trip to La Paz.

I picked a B&B, in search of peace and quiet, and found the ultimate place. The owner, LeeAnne, was the perfect host! She made great breakfast in the morning, provided us guidance on both restaurants and sight-seeing. The place is newly updated, so very clean and comfortable, with beautiful decor. Right on the beach, so the nightly stroll was wonderful. A little out of town, but we don’t mind walking and prefer the quiet anyway. I can’t recommend this place enough and we will be back in January! Thanks LeeAnne!!

We stayed 6 days / 5 nights in Casa Kootenay and everything was just perfect! Casa Kootenay is really a great B&B: the house has an amazing location (beachfront – and the malecón is only at 10 min in car), a super rooftop and the rooms are well kept and comfortable. The breakfast is everyday fantastic! Leeanne is a great cook and a very welcoming host. She has good recommendations for restaurants and activities in La Paz and around. She just made everything to make us fell at home!
Thanks you very much! Muchas gracias! Merci beaucoup Leeanne and Ayla !
We highly recommend Casa Kootenay for a stay in La Paz.

Being at Casa Kootenay was like being at home in paradise. The location is beautiful and sunbathing on the rooftop in the morning breeze was delightful. The hostess with the mustess was fantastic, she really helped us plan a wonderful experience in La Paz with information and event for our stay. And you have to LOVE Ayla. Next trip to La Paz will differently mean a stay at Casa Kootenay again, our new home away from home.

Great Property: The house and property is well kept and clean. The rooms are very comfortable and have all of the amenities that you need. The upper sundeck is absolutely amazing and affords wonderful views of the beach, ocean, and mangroves. Stand up paddleboards are available and fun to use in the calm bay. The small outdoor kitchen provided the perfect space to prepare smoothies and easy to make quesadillas with ingredients from the nearby grocer.

Great Location: The location of the Bed and Breakfast is in an amazing location. Located directly on the beach, one couldn’t ask for a better location. The heart of the malecon is only a 10 minute drive away.

Great Host: Leanne is a fabulous resource and a great host. Leanne assisted in helping us with our activity bookings/coordination prior to our arrival to La Paz. She was fabulous and always available over email. Her local connections enabled us to have wonderful excursions that were reasonably priced. In La Paz, Leanne was always available and willing to recommend restaurants, activities, and other things to do and see in the area. Leanne is a great cook and breakfast was always divine.

My husband and I had a pre-wedding week-long honeymoon at Casa Kootenay in February. We had a lovely, very relaxing vacation. Leanne is a great hostess and had a lot to do with how much we enjoyed our time in La Paz. From the delicious and filling breakfasts she whipped up every morning to the snorkeling/whale watching/swimming with seals expedition she hooked us up with. The B&B was very comfortable and clean. One of the highlights was grabbing the paddleboards or kayaks in the morning and going out for some fun on the water before heading out to the local beaches or downtown. We also enjoyed the communal aspect of Casa Kootenay. It’s easy to get to know the other guests over breakfast, and Leanne even had us over for dinner with some of her friends one evening. If you’re looking for a relaxing vacation spot in La Paz I would highly recommend Casa Kootenay. I know we would love to go back!

My friends and I were looking for a place to stay in La Paz and we found Casa Kootenay. The house is beautiful, clean and has an amazing view. Leanne is hospitable, friendly and makes you feel like you’re just at home. She has recommendations on all the fun things to do and restaurants to eat at. La Paz is a beautiful beach town and the people are all so friendly. We were in Mexico for 7 days. We only spent the first 3 days in La Paz and then went on to Cabo. I wish we would have stayed the whole time with Leanne. The house is gorgeous, spacious and private. She has paddle boards and kayaks that we used. You literally walk 20 feet out the back door and drop into the ocean. There is also a hot tub so when you come in for the day you can relax and unwind in that. The breakfasts were delicious. Leanne woke up every morning and made it. We had everything from fresh fruit, hot food or just cereal if you’re not a heavy morning eater. I would recommend anyone I know to stay here and when we go back to La Paz we will most definitely be staying with Leanne.

I visited La Paz in dec 2013 for the first time and stayed at ,not at but with Casa Kootenay..leeanne went literally the extra mile and picked me up at the airport and welcomed me to her “home”The place is perfectly situated out of town on a calm beach where you can walk, sit and read and bug into town if you chose to. She makes you feel like family and allow you the free run of the place ..the food was great and is willing to have you get involved in special meals and when I think of La Paz I think of Casa Kootenay first with fond memories …Look forward in my return.

I have never written a review, but felt like I needed to with this awesome find! We were so lucky to find this place! We had a wonderful reception from the B&B staff when they picked us up from the busy Cabo airport with refreshments. We were stunned to see the place! The pictures do not do it justice…usually it is the other way around when beautiful pictures are just that…pictures. This place is breathtaking. and the staff was so friendly and helpful! We were so happy with our trip, and can’t wait to go back. We have stayed in several B&B’s but this one is special. Leeanne and Jan help you feel at home. The quiet peaceful mornings will never be forgotten….I hope to go back as soon as I can!

    Stayed November 2012

Wonderful warm time spent in La Paz, BCS Mexico. Leeanne’s Bed & Breakfast is an hour and twenty minutes from the Cabo San Lucas airport (SJD), a beautiful drive and her home is a fabulous combination of warmth, cosy charm and peacefulness. Very welcoming and friendly!
Our very clean room was a haven at the end of each day, and one of our highlights was sitting in the private hot tub watching the stars, just beautiful! Having coffee on the roof top as we watched the pelicans, sunlight on the wakes or the incredible *sunsets* never gets old. .
Friendly and knowledgeable staff helped even the clumsy with kayaking, wind surfing and also were so accommodating to booking our special requests. Not only did we have fun in the water, but advice was offered on the best restaurants and other fun things to do
The breakfast that Leeanne prepared each morning was so scrumptious! La Paz is a great place, very friendly and we always felt safe and I’d definitely recommend staying at Casa Kootenay to anyone thinking of visiting the area

We had a lovely stay and enjoyed a night on the rooftop gazebo seeing the sunrise. After a tasty breakfast with waffles, fruit, and eggs Benedict, my daughter and I paddled stand up paddle boards across the flat water of the mogote. We were greeted by 2 dolphins curious to see us! Much to do on our next visit including a visit to the Serpentarium across the street and swimming with whale sharks.

I just got back from my stay at Casa Kootenay. This place is amazing! Words and even pictures just can’t do it justice.
Leeanne is the best hostess you could ask for. I felt so welcome and comfortable. She was the best part of my trip.
Her breakfasts were awesome – (jalapenos scones were to die for)
And her Salsa! – OMG – You have to try it!
    I’ll definately be back
